The Guirila Economic project is now open for business. Approximately 15 women, all head of households, are working together in this initiative. They currently work in shifts either as producers or as sellers or in the road side stand which offers hot guirials with cheese and other products to travellers from all over the country as well as locals. Guirilas are a special type of tortillas unique to the area but loved and enjoyed by most Nicaraguans. The project’s goal is to provide these women with a source of sustainable income so they can take care of their families and have the resources to send their kids to school. This economic initiative is being led by Dr. Joliette Juncadella, who has a master degree in business administration with concentrations in project development and management from INCAE (Central American Institute of Business Administration). The women have weekly business meetings as well as monthly training sessions in kingdom finances, business management and leadership skills. The women decided to name the products “Productos La Mision” or “The Mission Products” because part of the earnings will help the work of the ministry and support the local church. Everyone is excited and proud of their hard work. So many in the community including children, helped with the building of the road side stand. Pastor Efrain Zeledon led the community in a dedication service attended by ministry reprentatives, Lic. Santiago Juncadella and Dr. Joliette Juncadella. We pray that the Lord continue to bless the work in Empalme de Boaco and continue to open the doors for more opportunities for the community.
